Giddy with boats, maps, and all things salty, Leafy's joyful paintings depict a whimsical world of maritime delight. Christened Alethea, known as Leafy, she had a nomadic childhood living in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Caribbean. After attending nine different schools, Leafy graduated from Exeter College of Art with a first class honours degree. Inspired by the watery wilderness on her Mersea Island doorstep, Leafy's portfolio is built on fresh air and dreams; she embraces everyday magic and the simple things in life, her timeless artwork has an air of nostalgia and the charm of the breeze. A seasoned sailor and ex-lifeboat crew, when she is not in her studio, Leafy is usually following Ratty's advice, "There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." Leafy's artwork is available to buy as prints and greeting cards from her studio and online shop.
