Patricia Forrest is an established and versatile artist working with oil, acrylics and mixed media. Graduating with a Degree in Fine Art from Central St Martins, her earlier work explored the theme of ‘structures’, both abstract and metaphoric, using oil pigments on a large-scale. Patricia is a skilled abstract painter who uses bold brushstrokes and vibrant colours to create dynamic and visually striking pieces. Inspired by the seascapes of the Essex, Suffolk and Cornish coasts, her paintings capture the changing impact of light and weather conditions across the land. Her interpretation of the landscape becomes abstract constructions based on combinations of visual and imaginary scenes. She uses hints of colour as an abstract suggestion of place and objects. From 2016, she started combining photography and painting through digital media, a technique she continues to evolve. She finds the challenge of combining the immediacy of photography with the evolutionary process of painting inspiring and stimulating. Patricia's ability to seamlessly blend different mediums allows her to create textured and layered artworks that are visually stimulating. Her mixed media pieces are a true reflection of her creativity and imagination as she explores and pushes the boundaries of traditional art forms. Patricia has exhibited in galleries across London (Tobacco Dock / Lauderdale House), Aldeburgh (Ballroom Arts Gallery), Colchester (Firstsite, The Minories, Trinity Square Art Space) Harwich (Essex Summer of Art), Wivenhoe (The Sentinel Gallery) West Mersea (Oyster Gallery), Oakham/Rutland (Otters) Patricia works on commissions for corporate and private collections. Patricia joined the Mersea Island Artist group in 2017
