About Vinny

After studying printed textiles at Middlesex University, Vinny went on to work as a textile designer for the fashion industry and then as a teacher. As an artist she has worked on Community Arts projects, Public Art commissions and exhibited in galleries in London and across East Anglia. 'My practice combines screen-print, machine & hand embroidery, digital print and other techniques experimentally to produce mixed-media pieces in a variety of formats. I am particularly fascinated in sheer ethereal materials and the way they refract light and delicate distressed vintage finds or bonded materials that I create myself.’ Recent work: ‘Mersea Florilegeum ’ (a gathering of flowers), explores the flora of the Saltmarsh communities that surround Mersea Island. Observations of of flora are printed or stitched on to veil like panels or an installation of kinetic semi-transparent lens like discs, which focus on the moments I encounter plants on my walks. Abstracted moments in time celebration of the visual and the cellular. She also has a small range of Saltmarsh inspired Digitally printed textiles and is available to work to commission.
